Oratory Kids at the Holyport British Under 15 and 19 Doubles

A strong showing from the Oratory as 4 pairs entered the British Junior Doubles Under 15's. All pairings played some of their best tennis up against experienced players from Seacourt and Holyport. Undaunted they all had some great games and thoroughly enjoyed the day and a great experience. We were also treated to a superb Under 19's final with some fantastic tennis from the current crop of Seacourt talent hoping to follow in Bryn's footsteps to the highest levels of the game.

Oratory Kids Top Guns !

With Bryn's coaching the Oratory kids club players are improving with each week that passes. The video shows a few clips of them in action - its nearly 7 minutes long so be patient ( all those who attended last week are in there somewhere !). Most important however is that everyone is having fun and enjoying the game. The smiling faces tell their own story.

Oratory Kids Club goes from Strength to Strength

The Oratory Kids Club takes placeon Sundays from 2pm until 3:30. Run by Cathy Gordon and Bryn Sayers, it is enjoyed by a large group of local kids. With fitness skills and coaching. Its great to see the enjoyment of youngsters new to tennis.

Young Guns Whittaker & Brownlee shoot past the opposition to win club doubles

58 players took part in the Handicap Doubles tournament.

Newcomer Cathy Gordon partnering the Most Improved Lady of the Year, Diane Binnie, made it all the way to the semi finals. At one stage it looked very much as if fathers Ian Whittaker and Fergus Brownlee were going to play against their sons Christian and Daniel in the final. However, the steady pair of Alan Wagner and Andy Woodward put paid to that by playing some terrific tennis in the semi final. So, the final was set between the youngest ever pair to compete in this tournament and it was the young guns, playing with a maturity beyond their years to take the trophy.

Semi Finals:

• A Wagner & A Woodward beat F Brownlee & I Whittaker 6-3
• C Whittaker & D Brownlee beat C Gordon & D Binnie 6-2

Final:

• Whittaker & Brownlee beat Wagner & Woodward 6-3

Knox Takes Championship

With a marvellous display of tennis Paul Knox took the Oratory Championship on Sunday. In spite of some spectauclarly hard forcing from Guy Barker that threatened to cause structural damage Paul never lost the initiative in the match winning in 2 sets. The tournament was enjoyed by all and we look forward to next year ... can young Mr Knox do it again.
